Viewing Post for: Raising Voices, Raising Roofs
Date: Friday, May 27
Location: Moshi, Tanzania
In this place, hopes and dreams don't happen. Today, we were honored to participate and witness two come true. As a group we all wanted to show our appreciation for the care that Juma, Rizicki, and Yusupf gave to us all week. We donated our own money and Rick put in the balance of the donations and gave them what Yusupf said was a miracle. We explained to Juma about an American tradition of a housewarming party and we gave him money to buy a table, chairs and a bed when he moves in. We then watched as the reality of what was only a dream wash over Rizicki as we gave him the money to build a room onto his home. When asked for words to describe the moment for the blog there were none.
Some of us are returning to our homes tomorrow and some heading off on safari with Yusupf. We all will come home with a new appreciation of life, love and friendship.
