DESCRIPTION:
This legendary area is one of the best canoe trips for the adventurous in North
America. It has everything. Eighty-three miles of canyons with sheer rock walls
over 1000 deep feet on all sides, large hot springs, decaying pioneer ruins,
mountain lions and javelina, rapids, fall colors, extreme isolation, unsurpassed
desert nights, ghosts of bandits, cavalry men, raiders and natives. You can
end your fall in the warmth of the south while others are dealing with mud season.
Some moving water experience is required. Every rapid can be scouted and walked
if need be. There will be a few short but rough portages for at least gear.
There are endless miles of sculpted side canyons to explore on foot. If you
love canoeing rivers or would like to try rafting, this is a must-do.
