* To assist in connecting our world as a worldwide community
* To change the lives of a family in need
* To learn about another culture
* To practice your Spanish
* For the adventure
* Because you CAN make a difference
* Because life is short and what is in our heart stays with us when there is nothing else left
* Why not?

GROUP SIZE-One to 6 people

In El Sauce and all over rural Nicaragua, there are numerous families who live in partially-completed houses or temporary shelters and are unable to complete the construction of their homes. The families are unable to come up with the money necessary due to low wages, a high unemployment rate and the rising costs of food. 4 Walls is committed to helping these families by repairing and helping construct new homes.Families sign a contract with the project and must provide the labor to complete the home. After receiving aid from 4 Walls, families may recommend others in need, and are asked to help with future projects to maintain the community spirit and sustainability of the 4 Walls Project.

During our stay in El Sauce, we will be working side by side with one of these families to help make this dream a reality. By helping these families we are not only providing them with a safe and secure place to live but also providing them a better chance at receiving utilities, which will lead to improved health. Kids who have a place to call home do better in school and have a much higher self-esteem.

But don't worry this trip will not be all work and no play. There will be time to relax and take in the surroundings and culture. We will have time to help support the beginnings of ecotourism by taking a horse trek into the mountains above El Sauce and spend time in the gorgeous mountain town of Matagalpa.
