DESCRIPTION:
Ancient castles, small villages and beautiful mountains all combine to make this a wonderful destination. The hiking is some of the best in the world. Rocky peaks, barren of trees with spring flowers rise from the lochs below. The hiking is challenging, the scenery expansive and the towns great for exploring at the days end. The trip is oriented toward seeing the country on foot. We will visit some of the less used areas and try to have as much contact as possible with the people of the country. Each day there will be a harder (depends on the group) and an easier (3-6 mile) hike. There are many fabulous routes to choose from for hiking. At night we will be staying in local lodging. Usually the lodging will be a bed and breakfast or an inn. It will be chosen for its character and flavor of Scotland . Most evening meals will have us sampling the regional fare in local establishments.

This trip is perfect for those who would like to explore Scotland on foot. Experience the rich history and culture of Scotland as we traverse some of the best hiking in the world! We will have ample time to explore castles and small villages as we walk along rocky peaks scattered with spring flowers. At night, meet people of the region while staying in local lodgings. You won't want to leave this rich country. Rich in history, beauty, lore, and mystique! You will have trod on trails have been there for centuries, leading from kingdom to kingdom. $2,490/person includes guides, lodging (double occupancy), castles, history, lochs, ghosts?, "Nessie", incredible mountains and hiking, local transport, and most meals. Airfare to Scotland not included. Running ~$1100 round trip Rochester-Glasgow. The final balance will reflect the change in the US $ up or down. This fee is based on the Lb.=$1.54 on 12/16/08.
